Episode 38: If It's Not Baroque...

Ultimate Compliment

Yesterday I received what is arguably one of the greatest compliments about SDA yet. Some kind, sensitive soul decided to go through all my youtube videos and dislike them. I'm really touched that the mystery viewer had the dedication to go through 42 videos just to hit a dislike button. That's 42 views of my vlog that I otherwise wouldn't have had. Amazingness!

It has also reminded me that I haven't mentioned the "like" button on youtube for a while (if at all) so if you enjoy the vlogs please do hit the like button below the video after you've watched it. It lets me know which videos people like the most so that I make more of them. Think of it as anonymously interactive vlogging

In my last post I talked about Ariel's Undersea Adventure opening at Disneyland but that wasn't the only thing to open this week. The Soundsational parade also made its official debut as did Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. Obviously I wasn't there but I did manage to watch a live feed of the opening ceremony featuring a battle between Jedi and Stormtroopers which culminated in a stand off between a mysterious Jedi Master and Darth Vader. I love that Disney are livestreaming this stuff because it means that I actually have a chance of being part of the magic while I'm still in the UK. Great call Mickey!

It seems that Darth Vader enjoyed his little visit to the Anaheim system and there's video to prove it!

That's all for today. Hopefully the first part of the video I mentioned in episode 37 will be uploaded later today so keep an eye out!

Episode 37: Slings and Things

Poor Unfortunate Soul

Yesterday was one day that I wasn't wishing that I was in Disney World already. Why? Because I was wishing that I was in Anaheim, CA at the opening of Ariel's Under Sea Adventure in Disney's California Adventure.

It's no secret that The Little Mermaid is my favourite Disney film and this ride has been 22 years in the making. There was an opening ceremony yesterday featuring a fab collection of people associated with Ariel including Alan Menken and Pat Carroll (aka the voice of Ursula and her sister Morgana). InsideTheMagic and DisneyParks have been posting videos on youtube this week so here are a few for your enjoyment...

Sherie Rene Scott (Ursula in the original Broadway Cast) performing Poor Unfortunate Souls:

Grand Opening Medley:

Jodi Benson singing Part of Your World:

Ariel and Ursula meet...ermm....Ariel and Ursula?

Ariel's Undersea Adventure will be part of the expanded Fantasyland opening next year. Maybe, if I wish really, really hard I'll get to be there on opening day!

Ouch!

Wednesday was such a productive day. I was up at 5am, had a mini workout, went to a car boot sale, sorted out various computer issues for people, came back home, had a nap, woke up, had a good catch up over the phone with my awesome friend Vix, had some dinner and then out of nowhere my right arm started killing. So I went up to bed to try to sleep it off but i couldn't even sleep properly because no matter how I positioned it I was still in pain. Eventually I managed to find a position where the pain was reduced but then I was scared to move! After a diagnosis from my mum (sprain!) my arm is now in a makeshift sling so that I can keep it in the most comfortable position possible. So now I'm typing this somewhat awkwardly! Ah well, hopefully it will sort itself out by the weekend. Trust it to be the right arm when I'm right-handed! My left arm is completely useless too. As my sister said earlier today I'm the opposite of ambidextrous.

At the moment the facebook groups seem to have been overloaded with people saying what apartment they're in which is a lovely reminder that I'm not in Orlando yet. Not too long to go now and at least I'll get to meet up with some friends before I leave. It's really annoying when you live in a different place to your mates.

Hopefully there'll be some new vlogs this weekend so be on the lookout for those!

925600 minutes

Today marks one year since I got on a plane and headed to Orlando for the summer of a lifetime and in 18 days I'll get to go back and do it again.

Right now I'm trying to find ways to kill time before I leave. In the last 2 months I've made 16 vlog episodes which is crazy when you think that that's nearly half of all the ones I've made. Obviously I have far too much free time on my hands right now. But if you needed further proof then here's what kept me occupied for 30 mins of today:

Hmmm maybe another Goofy's How to Guide is on the cards!

Having recommended that everyone buys their bedding from Walmart (which I still do btw) It occurred to me that I have some excess bedding lying around the house. My uni bedding actually came from Florida and as I have spare sets of home bedding without it I know I won't feel too bothered about taking it back there and then leaving it at the end of the summer, much like I did with the set I bought from Walmart last year. This is mostly a cost saving measure and I still fully intend to buy a 2-pack of pillows from Walmart for $8 when I arrive. If I wasn't happy throwing it out after 3 months though then I would just stick with the stuff from Walmart.

Today also marked group 3, aka May 31st-ers, fly date to Orlando. I'm trying to pretend that hasn't happened yet because so far no-one's had the chance to post on Facebook that they've arrived (early arrivals excluded). I think the last 2 weeks are going to be the hardest for me because Monday sees the departure of group 3.5 - the small gang of ICPs that get to work at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort which include my super awesome sister aka Miss "I hate the food at the Three Broomsticks".

For now I leave you with what is quite possibly my favourite photo from the last 2 weeks. Enjoy!
