SDA: Episode 29 - Euro-invasion!

Someday my vlog will come

I've just spent the last couple of hours putting together Episode 29 of the vlog so I thought this would be a good time to show you the two fabulous entries to my logo competition. The winner logo will be appearing in Episode 30 when I reveal the all-new incredible fanatabulous opening and closing title sequences. But for now admire the artwork!

I to the N to the TIMATE Get Together

Oh sorry I'm STILL singing that song to myself and unless you've been living under a rock for the last few days you'll know it's been a bit of a busy weekend.

Actually, life seems to have been busy in general recently and unfortunately that tends to mean that the blog and vlog get put on the back burner. The good news is there will be a new vlog coming up either this week or next week. In fact it's all been filmed and everything I just haven't had a chance to put it together and given how much has been happening since the last one it could end up being a multi-part-er.

A month ago I was able to say that I had finished with classes. On Thursday I was able to say that I had finished with essays. Tomorrow I'll have finished with my dissertation and in 8 days I'll have finished with exams. Great stuff!

People have started arriving in Florida already which makes me extremely jealous but I just have to think of getting past the next 8 days and the fact that afterwards I can just chill and worry about nothing except sitting in the sunshine, editing videos and playing my guitar.

Side Note: How awesome was the wedding on Friday? It was beautiful, it was perfect and it was British. I loved it all! Especially the bit with the Aston Martin.

Golden Dream '11

So here's one of the things I love about the USA - the patriotism of its people. Sure, sometimes it feels like a bit much but I think that over the last 60 years Brits have indulged in apathy towards their country. The first time I really felt proud to be British was when I moved to Los Angeles in 2006. I was the only Brit in my dorm complex and I really felt proud to be there, representing my country, especially as I am someone that feels far more personally connected to the US than the UK.

Today is the Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton and the entire country is celebrating. Irrelevant of anyone's feelings about the Royal Family today should be an amazing day to be British. We stand united, celebrating our past, our present and our future, watched by the world at large.

Fairytales are about finding your equal. Someone that both deserves and is deserving of you. The press have jumped on the fact that Kate is a "commoner" and I grew up with people with very similar backgrounds to her so am fully aware that it's not quite the rag-to-riches story that the media seem to be selling. I truly believe though that she will make an excellent future Queen and ambassador for my country and I wish her and Prince William every happiness.

One sad thing that seems to have happened because of all the focus on the wedding though is that the events happening in the Southern US States have been largely ignored and my thoughts are with the people that have been affected by the tornados.

That said let us enjoy our day of Britishness and celebrate together. Remember...It's not a party it's an intimate get-together. Take it away Candace!

Have you got your passport ready?

This morning I finally received my visa which means I'm all clear to head off to Orlando in June - wahoo!

But until about 2 minutes ago I still hadn't printed my passport yet.

Now, you might be thinking I'm involved in some identity theft scam but let me reassure you by showing you my passport photo.

You can make your own Galactic Passport at www.startourspassport.com. The best bit? If you take it with you to the new Star Tours attraction after it opens on 20th May 2011 galactic immigration officials will stamp it for you. So go on...indulge in a bit of Disney-style Star Wars fun!
